John Monk's Villa in Puerto Vallarta

LOCATION

The house is located in a middle class subdivision called Aramara which is a half mile inland from the "Krystal" disco and the marina Buenaventura hotel on the road to Pitillal. I usually walk to the nearest beach called the "Playa d'Oro". The primary school is close by.  The Aramara market and shopping center is a 10 minute walk. Downtown is 15 mins on the very frequent bus. Playa Los Muertos on the south side of town is 20 minutes. Pitillal, a small traditional market town is 1 mile to the north east. The airport is less than 20 minutes away by van or taxi.

AMENITIES

The house is about 1200 sq ft and is 2 bedroom, 2 bath and is very suitable for two couples or a family of four.

It has a small very sunny walled in garden. The house is fully furnished with linens and dishes etc. The maid comes in every day for about 1-1/2 hours. It has a new refrigerator and washing machine. The oven is gas. It was built in 1974 and due to the efforts of the maid and the careful use by my guests everything is in lovely condition. The following pictures show the house interior and the immediate setting.

As well as being famous as a beach resort Puerto Vallarta is  noted for it's many good restaurants. Nearby is a Sam’s Club, a tennis club with pool ( $3 a day per person ), a classical radio station and a hospital. Los Flamingos golf course is close to the airport. Buses run to just about everywhere and are very frequent. The fare is around 20 cents (US).

WEATHER

Daytime temperature is in the 80° to 90° F (26° to 32° C) range. There is usually an onshore breeze from the ocean which limits the maximum temperature to a moderate level. Night time temperatures are 5 to 10 degrees lower. Rain is infrequent but can be very heavy when it occurs.

MAID SERVICE

The maid, whose name is Maria, comes in every day for an hour and a half to two hours.  She does the dishes, changes bed linens (every three days), and general cleaning.

She does personal laundry for $1 US per wash, and personal cooking by arrangement with her.

RATES

Rates are US$ 65.00  (US) a day Sept thru June. July and August are US$ 50.00 a day. Monthly rate is US$ 1100.00.

PLANNING A STAY

What my guests like to do who are in the planning stage of their vacation is to get together with me, usually at my residence in Madison Park (Seattle, WA, USA), to look at more pictures and ask  questions.

A significant factor is the airline fare and reservation. From Seattle, Alaskan Airlines has a virtual monopoly. Tickets purchased 3 weeks or more ahead of time are substantially less expensive.
